We finished the practice regatta in 13th position after a tricky last day. The first race we put in a credible 6th and the second race we got to the windward mark in 4th but then lost about 20 boats downwind and then had to fight to keep in the race. Bit of a sticky end to the warm up regatta but encouraged by our light wind speed and adaptability to the conditions we are hopeful going into the main competition.
The conditions have been very crazy but we have learnt heaps about how to race in these conditions and about us racing together. One of our goals for the season is to get as much racing practice in as we can so this is the very start of the learning curve.
So we’ve given Blink a good wash off and tied her down and are having a good day off before we ramp up the polishing and perfecting for the final competition.
We managed to get tickets to go and see Miami Heat play basketball against Oklahoma Thunder in the arena not too far from our house. It was absolutely incredible, like nothing I have ever seen before such an amazing show and so well choreographed and organised and the stadium itself was breathtaking! America at its best!
